From 2006 to 2007, Chris Hayes was a Puffin Foundation Writing Fellow at The Nation Institute and also became a contributing writer for The Nation.

However, he made his television debut as a guest host for the Rachel Maddow Show in 2010. From here, he landed hosting gigs on other MSNBC shows such as Countdown with Keith Olbermann, The Ed Show, and The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell.
